Vodafone Enters Broadband Fray

LONDON,
November 13: Mobile giant Vodafone has announced it will now offer broadband
services for £25 a month starting January 8, 2007, to its mobile phone
customers.

Called
Vodafone at Home, the package includes line rental, unlimited broadband access,
landline calls within the U.K. and a 25-percent reduction on calls to mobile
phones, according to The Guardian.

With
this move Vodafone enters the fray in which companies like Carphone Warehouse,
Orange and BSkyB have been fighting for subscribers—often enticing
customers with discounts and free services that have harmed their bottom lines.

Along
with the new service, Vodafone is offering 24-hour free technical support. The
company says it is confident it can manage the roll-out of the new service
without encountering any of the start-up glitches that have plagued some of its
rivals.
