USA Network, Denis Leary Partner for Comedy Pilot

NEW YORK: Denis Leary is developing and co-writing a half-hour pilot adapted from the upcoming Channel 4 comedy Sirens, about a group of young paramedics, for USA Network.

Leary is writing the pilot with Bob Fisher (Wedding Crashers, Traffic Light). Both will executive produce together with Jim Serpico (Rescue Me), and Hal Vogel and David Aukin of Daybreak Pictures. Apostle—the venture set up by Leary and Serpico—and Fox Television Studios will produce in conjunction with Daybreak Pictures. It is being adapted from the six-part Sirens, rolling out this month in the U.K., created by Brian Fillis and inspired by EMT paramedic Tom Reynolds’ book Blood, Sweat and Tea.

Announcing the pilot deal, Bill McGoldrick, senior VP of original scripted programming at USA, noted, “We are still finding our way in the genre but we know for certain that our half hours will be written and produced by creators with a specific and unique point of view. Since they formed Apostle, Denis and Jim have brought those two qualities to everything they’ve done.”
