Unpublished Stephen King Work Heads to Digital

NEW YORK, July 25:
Scribner and Simon & Schuster Digital have teamed up with Marvel
Entertainment and CBS Mobile to deliver Stephen King’s N as a series of 25 original video episodes for
viewing on mobile and online platforms.

Running from July 28 to
August 29, the video episodes, each approximately two minutes in length, will
be released on consecutive weekdays for five weeks, at no additional charge to
mobile users, available through a range of carriers. The episodes will also be
featured on the web through the CBS Audience Network and at NisHere.com.
Customers can purchase blocks of five episodes for $0.99 or buy a Season Pass
for the entire series for $3.99. Preview episodes are currently available at
NisHere.com and simonsays.com.

The episodes are based on
King’s original and previously unpublished story, N, which centers on a psychiatrist who becomes the
victim of the same mysterious and deadly obsession as his patient. Comic-book
artist Alex Maleev and colorist José Villarrubia are responsible for the
episodes. Presented in “pan and scan” format, the episodes were adapted by Marc
Guggenheim, the co-creator of ABC’s Eli Stone, with creative oversight from King. N will be included in King’s upcoming collection of
short stories, Just After Sunset,
as well as published as a comic-book mini-series by Marvel, launching in 2009.

King commented: "I'm
always interested in new delivery systems for stories and always curious about
how those systems work with the old storytelling verities. This one, it seems
to me, works extraordinarily well."
