ATLANTA: Ahead of its season one premiere, truTV has ordered a 13-episode second season of Those Who Can’t, the network’s first original scripted comedy series.

Thank You, Brain! Productions’ Those Who Can’t, from showrunner Dean Lorey (Arrested Development), follows three troublemaking high-school teachers played by creators and executive producers Adam Cayton-Holland, Andrew Orvedahl and Ben Roy. The first season is slated to begin airing on February 11, 2016. The sophomore run will debut later that year.

“We love Those Who Can’t so much we literally couldn’t wait to make more,” said Chris Linn, the president of truTV. “Working with Dean has been an incredible experience, and we look forward to developing new projects with him as we continue to take truTV further into the scripted arena.”

truTV has also inked a first-look deal with Lorey. The channel ordered a pilot for Shady Neighbors, a tentatively titled series from Thank You, Brain! Productions that is being written and exec produced by Lorey. The story centers on a suburban couple whose financial troubles lead them to become criminals.

“Making Those Who Can’t with Chris, Marissa, Angel and the whole truTV team was a terrific experience,” said Lorey. “They really know how to support the vision of the folks who work on their shows. I’m thrilled to be able to continue the relationship with a second season of Those Who Can’t and the pilot order for Shady Neighbors.”

truTV has additionally signed a pilot agreement with comedian Tom Segura for an untitled medical comedy. Segura is slated to star in and executive produce the pilot. The network also ordered a pilot script from Melissa Hunter, best known for the YouTube series Adult Wednesday Addams. Hunter will write the script, exec produce and star in the potential dark comedy about amateur vigilantes battling life’s daily injustices.
