The Wiz Live! Delivers for NBC, Draws Social Media Buzz

NEW YORK: Last night’s event special The Wiz Live! drew 11.5 million total viewers for NBC, according to Nielsen’s fast national numbers, and was the top program of the day on social media.

The live broadcast scored a 3.4 rating/11 share in the key 18-to-49 demographic. This bests the performance of last year’s musical Peter Pan Live, which got a 2.4 rating with adults 18 to 49 and 9.2 million viewers.

According to Nielsen Twitter TV ratings, approximately 279,000 people sent 1.64 million tweets about The Wiz Live! that were seen by 6.37 million people, a total of 129 million times. This makes it the most-social live special program in Nielsen Twitter TV history (excluding awards shows and political events), which dates back to October 2011.
