The CW Makes Early Renewals, Revives Constantine as Animated Series

PASADENA: The CW has given early renewals to seven of its prime-time series, among them Arrow and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, for the 2017-18 season, and is prepping the DC Comics drama Constantine as an animated series.

Constantine previously aired on NBC, which canceled the show after one season. Now, executive producer Greg Berlanti and writer David S. Goyer are bringing the show back with CW Seed as an animated series.

The series being ordered for the 2017-2018 season include Arrow (season six), Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (season three) and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow (season three). Also being greenlit for new installments are The Flash (season four), Jane the Virgin (season four), Supergirl (season three) and Supernatural (season 13).

“Over the past several seasons, The CW has built a schedule of proven performers, from our lineup of DC superheroes, to critically acclaimed comedies, to sci-fi dramas,” said Mark Pedowitz, the president of The CW. “Early pickups of these seven series now allow our producers to plan ahead for next season, and gives us a solid base to build on for next season, with original scripted series to roll out all year long.”
