The Content Group (TCG), a part of Asylum Entertainment Group (AEG), has expanded its executive team with the appointments of Shanon Smith as senior VP of production and Sandra Young as VP of current production and partnerships.

In her new role, Smith will spearhead all physical operations and will be responsible for TCG’s production slate, dually reporting to TCG President Jodi Flynn and AEG President and Chief Strategy Officer Ryann Lauckner. Most recently, Smith was VP of production and operations at NBCUniversal.

At NBCUniversal, Smith was instrumental in launching Oxygen as a crime destination and oversaw nearly 400 hours of original programming. Before that, she climbed the ranks at TwoFour America to become executive VP of production and operations.

In her new role, Young works with the current production team, reporting to James Macnab, senior VP of content. She will also help work across productions under TCG companies, including Breaklight Pictures, Big City TV and 72 Steps Media. Prior to joining TCG, Young spent nearly a decade at NBCUniversal as Oxygen’s senior director of current programming and development.

Flynn said: “Shanon and Sandra are both highly esteemed veterans who bring tremendous experience to The Content Group. They are brilliant leaders who’ve established enduring relationships throughout the industry and are integral as we continue to grow at such a fast pace.”
