NEW YORK: Syfy has renewed the competition series Total Blackout for a second season, comprised of 16 new episodes.

In the show, contestants are placed in a room that is completely dark and they are tasked with performing several challenges. The winners are rewarded with cash prizes. Jaleel White (Family Matters, Dancing with the Stars) serves as host. The new episodes, produced by FremantleMedia North America, will launch November 13.

Mark Stern, the president of original content at Syfy and co-head of original content at Universal Cable Productions, said: “By skillfully using contestants’ own imaginations against them, Total Blackout has become a compelling new hit, and a great addition to our growing slate of unscripted programming. We’re excited to be back in business with Jaleel White, and to see the new challenges Fremantle and their producers will cook up for the new season of this funny and offbeat series.”
