SpongeBob, The X Factor, The Voice Top 2012’s Social TV Rankings

NEW YORK: SpongeBob SquarePants was the show that had the most social activity around it this year, according to Trendrr’s social TV rankings, followed by The X Factor and then The Voice.

Trendrr measures social media activity related to specific television shows, including mentions, likes and check-ins, across Twitter, Facebook, GetGlue and Viggle. In its list of 2012’s top social TV shows, Trendrr reports that Pretty Little Liars and the reality show The Bad Girls Club have made the top 5.

American Idol ranks at number six, followed by the reality show Love & Hip Hop Atlanta. The Ellen DeGeneres Show and Today are numbers eight and nine, respectively. The hit post-zombie-apocolypse drama The Walking Dead caps off the top 10.

Other shows generating social media buzz in 2012 were Glee, Jersey Shore, The Vampire Diaries, The Simpsons and Dancing with the Stars, all making the top 20.
