Showtime Appoints Geoff Stier as SVP of Original Programming

Showtime Networks has hired Geoff Stier, a Paramount Pictures veteran, as senior VP of original programming.

Stier will help develop and shepherd original comedies, dramas and limited series for the network. He will be based at the Showtime West Coast offices and report to Amy Israel, executive VP of scripted programming at Showtime Networks.

“Geoff Stier is one of the film world’s finest executives, universally respected for his extensive production experience, deep filmmaker relationships and a great eye for distinctive, high-quality material,” said Israel. “In an era when premium television in general, and Showtime specifically, is at the forefront of groundbreaking, cinematic storytelling, Geoff is a meaningful addition to our outstanding team of original programming executives.”

Stier’s previous positions include serving as executive VP of production at Paramount Pictures and as senior VP of production and development at Paramount Vantage. He served as a producer from 1992 to 2002 for Sydney Pollack and Anthony Minghella’s Mirage Enterprises.
