The Content Group (TCG)—a creative collective rooted in non-exclusive partnership deals with producers, filmmakers and talent—has tapped award-winning producer Jodi Flynn as president.

Flynn previously was president of Outpost Entertainment, an ITV company with hit series including Forged in Fire and Forged in Fire: Knife or Death. Flynn will continue to collaborate with ITV on the production of Forged in Fire and Knife or Death and remains attached to both shows.

Steve Michaels launched TCG last year as a new business model for the production community, with a focus on open partnership and collaboration and streamlined operations designed to help partners get to market faster. TCG will offer each partner competitive splits on fees and backend; the company will also pay out “bonuses” of $50,000 each time a partner hits a revenue or profit marker. TCG is committing to its partners 30 percent of net profits from a future sale and/or major transaction.

The Content Group also houses the production label Asylum Entertainment, originally founded by Michaels in 2003 and sold to Legendary in 2014, with Michaels becoming the sole owner again in 2018. Michaels has now formed new parent company Asylum Entertainment Group (AEG), under which The Content Group will sit. Ryann Lauckner, who previously was president of The Content Group, has been appointed as president and chief strategy officer of AEG.

Flynn and Lauckner both report to Michaels.

Michaels commented, “Both Jodi and Ryann bring singular production and management expertise, as well as maverick points of view, to the process of creating a content ecosystem. I could not be prouder of this leadership team as we begin to share more of our vision and work alongside the best creative partners in the business.”

Flynn said, “I am so fortunate to have had a creative career that allowed me to pave my own path in this amazing industry. Now, to be at the forefront of another entrepreneurial venture, working with immensely talented producers with their own proven track records, feels especially fortuitous as the industry goes through reinvention, and reinvigoration. I’m thrilled to be leading The Content Group and to be embarking on this new adventure.”

Lauckner added, “As we kick off the new year and welcome Jodi to the team, we are doubling down on partnership and looking for ways to redefine it at every level within Asylum Entertainment Group. We see the trends in the marketplace that are making it increasingly difficult for individual creators truly benefit from their contributions to their projects, and our goal is to help even the playing field, both here and globally.”
