New Highlights Across Discovery Networks

Among the upcoming highlights revealed by Discovery during its TCA network presentations is ID’s Mind of a Monster, delving into the psyche of America’s most notorious serial killers.

The first installment of the Investigation Discovery franchise, Ted Bundy: Mind of a Monster, kicks things off on August 18.

Also on ID, The View co-host and Emmy-winning senior legal correspondent for ABC News, Sunny Hostin, is joining the true-crime network with the premiere of a new series this fall, Truth About Murder with Sunny Hostin. ID has lined up a second season of In Pursuit with John Walsh, in which the victims’ rights advocate hunts down persons of interest and aims to find missing children. The new 12-episode season is slated for early 2020.

On Discovery Channel, Undercover Billionaire debuts on August 6, following as self-made mogul Glenn Stearns attempts to build a million-dollar company in just 90 days. Serengeti bows on the network on August 4, with new episodes airing subsequent Saturdays. The six-part series highlights the majestic animals on the untouched plains of Tanzania and their day-to-day lives living together. It is created and produced by Emmy winner Simon Fuller (American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance) and directed and produced by Emmy-winning wildlife filmmaker John Downer (Penguin: Spy in the Huddle).

Food Network has signed an exclusive deal with Molly Yeh for new episodes of the daytime series Girl Meets Farm and multiplatform content across all digital platforms.

TLC is putting a spotlight on the untold stories of the “Hicks Babies”—the name given to more than 200 newborn babies illegally sold or given away from the back steps of a small-town Georgia clinic run by Dr. Thomas J. Hicks during the 1950s and 1960s—with the six-hour special Taken at Birth. The program will air over three nights this October.

The six TV siblings from the classic sitcom The Brady Bunch—Barry Williams (Greg), Maureen McCormick (Marcia), Christopher Knight (Peter), Eve Plumb (Jan), Mike Lookinland (Bobby) and Susan Olsen (Cindy)—were on hand at the TCA presentation for HGTV, promoting the upcoming series A Very Brady Renovation. The show premieres on September 9. Also on HGTV, twin brothers Jonathan and Drew Scott return to battle it out for bragging rights in a new season of Brother vs. Brother: Jonathan vs. Drew in 2020.

Travel Channel is bringing back its Halloween event Ghostober with premieres every night of the month. Highlights include Most Terrifying Places, Witches of Salem, The Holzer Files and Ghost Adventures: Serial Killer Spirits.

OWN, meanwhile, announced that its anticipated new drama series David Makes Man, from Academy Award winner Tarell Alvin McCraney (Moonlight) and Warner Horizon Scripted Television, will premiere on August 14.
