SAN DIEGO: IDW Publishing and Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products are working together on a publishing plan for cult hit series The X-Files that includes reprinting collections from the classic issues from 1995.

New publishing for the series, which spawned two movies and had more than 200 TV episodes, has now been available since 2009. Now, IDW will be creating brand-new comics to launch in June.

The X-Files is a classic property that helped redefine fans’ expectations for the science-fiction and horror genres,” said Greg Goldstein, IDW’s president and chief operating officer. “The possibilities for new comic stories are virtually unlimited!”

“Few shows have captured the zeitgeist and fans’ imaginations like The X-Files, and fewer shows still have left people hungry for more in the way this one did,” added Chris Ryall, IDW’s chief creative officer and editor-in-chief. “Our new series will be picking up where the second film left off, which will hopefully be as exciting for fans to read as it is for us to develop.”
