NBCU Bolsters Investment in Cable Portfolio

NBCUniversal Television and Streaming has ramped up the slates of its cable portfolio with new programming across Bravo, E!, Oxygen, SYFY, Universal Kids and USA Network.

“A key driver of success at NBCUniversal’s cable networks is our ability to tap into the scope and scale of our collective portfolio while leveraging each brand’s distinct audience to build unrivaled fan destinations across our networks and on Peacock,” said Frances Berwick, chairman of entertainment networks at NBCUniversal Television and Streaming. “Our cable networks represent a vital part of our business and we will continue to invest in our brands and IP in innovative ways, whether that be through mixing live sports and big event series on USA, introducing a new host to E!’s flagship Red Carpet, or bringing our addictive Bravo shows to life with fan experiences, our networks remain the home of culture-defining television.”

“With more than 40 new series and specials across the cable networks, our content team has been firing on all cylinders to ensure our brands are at the center of destination viewing,” added Susan Rovner, chairman of entertainment content at NBCUniversal Television and Streaming. “Our high-profile competition shows, spinoffs of fan-favorite franchises and much-anticipated scripted originals super-serve existing fans while also enticing new ones.”

Bravo has added to its lineup Below Deck Adventure, which takes wealthy thrill-seekers on the mega-yacht trip of a lifetime; Kandi OLG Project (working title), following Kandi, Todd and the Old Lady Gang (comprised of Mama Joyce and Aunts Nora and Bertha) continue to build their restaurant empire; Life is a Ballroom (w/t), spotlighting professional amateur dancing; Love Match Atlanta (w/t), exploring Atlanta’s most highly regarded Black matchmaking companies; Love Without Borders (w/t), in which singles take a chance at love with a stranger, in a strange land; and Summer House Winter Charm, following some of Bravo’s favorite Summer House and Southern Charm cast members and their friends during a two-week vacation at a ski house in Vermont.

E! has lined up Clash of the Cover Bands (w/t), a new music competition series; Jason Biggs Cash at Your Door, a game show from the producers of Cash Cab; Relatively Famous: Ranch Rules (w/t), in which celebrity offspring come together to live and work as ranch hands for four weeks in Steamboat Springs, Colorado; and Showbiz Moms & Dads, featuring bigger-than-life parents of budding stars. Also on the E! roster is We Got Love Iman & Teyana, a docuseries following Teyana Taylor and Iman Shumpert.

New programming coming to Oxygen includes 911 Crisis Center, which brings viewers behind-the-scenes of the fast-paced, high-stakes world of a dynamic 911 call center outside of Cleveland; Alaska Man Murders (w/t), investigating homicide cases in Alaska; Family Massacre, exploring some of the most ruthless murders ever committed; and Final Moments, revealing the emotional truth of victims leading up to their death. Further highlights for the roster include The Girl Who Lived (w/t), from executive producer Elizabeth Smart; New York Homicide, which delves into some of the worst murder cases in the city’s recent history; The Real Murders of Atlanta, looking at homicides that highlight the boundaries between gentrified Southern dynasties; Relationship Killer with Faith Jenkins (w/t), shining a light on evil stories of love that sours; and Snapped Notorious: The Cleveland Strangler and Snapped Notorious: River Valley Killer, among others.

For SYFY, new programming highlights include Astrid & Lilly Save the World, about outcast high school BFFs who accidentally crack open a portal to a terrifying monster dimension; Bring It On: Halloween (w/t), an original movie that follows as members of a cheerleading squad start to disappear; Chucky, following as a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale and throws an idyllic American town into chaos; and Day of the Dead, the story of six strangers trying to survive the first 24 hours of an undead invasion. The lineup also features Slumber Party Massacre, a reimagining of the 1982 slasher cult classic.

USA Network has among its new programming America’s Big Deal, a competition series that invites inventors from across the nation to sell their products live on-air; Mud, Sweat & Beards (w/t), spotlighting best friends and current world-class survivalists as they tackle the Earth’s most remote locations; and Nash Bridges, with Don Johnson and Cheech Marin returning in a special two-hour movie. Chucky will air on USA, in addition to SYFY.
