UNIVERSAL CITY: NBC has expanded its lineup of event programming with three new mini-series, including one based on the life of former First Lady and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, as well as a limited series.

The four-hour Hillary will be written and directed by Courtney Hunt (Frozen River). Diane Lane (Unfaithful, Under the Tuscan Sun, Cinema Verite) will portray Clinton, telling the story of her life as a wife, mother, politician and cabinet member. The story begins in 1998 and follows up to present day.

Also on the planner is Rosemary’s Baby, a four-hour updated retelling of the bestselling novel by Ira Levin that was later adapted into a feature film. Lionsgate is the production company. Scott Abbott (Introducing Dorothy Dandridge) will be the writer.

Stephen King’s Tommyknockers is based on the author’s 1987 novel about residents of a small town in Maine who believe that an alien spacecraft has landed nearby. Executive producers are Frank Konigsberg and Larry Sanitsky. Yves Simoneau (Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee) is set to direct.

NBC has also lined up the limited series Plymouth, which looks at the challenges and drama of the Pilgrims’ journey across the Atlantic. Mark Burnett and Anne Thomopolous of Mark Burnett Productions are executive producing, alongside Gina Matthews and Grant Sharbo (Little Engine). Walon Green (The Hellstrom Chronicle, NYPD Blue) will write.
