Morgan Creek Productions has rebranded as Morgan Creek Entertainment Group (MCEG) and will produce reboots of classic brands such as Ace Ventura and Major League.

MCEG’s multiplatform, content-driven slate will focus on introducing iconic brands to a new audience with commercially accessible TV, theatrical and digital reboots of some of Morgan Creek’s top-grossing titles. The company’s library titles, including Young Guns, Dead Ringers, Diabolique, Pacific Heights and Clive Barker’s Nightbreed, span all genres and demographic targets and are being packaged for motion-picture, TV and digital platforms based on name recognition, capacity for social media enhancement and format potential.

The company is developing new cross-platform strategies with studios, buyers, talent agencies and major showrunners. Additionally, MCEG is expanding beyond its TV presence to encompass a range of ancillary exploitation opportunities, including short-form content, graphic novels, live productions and all gaming platforms.

Having made its first foray into TV with The Exorcist, now in its second season on FOX, MCEG will be comprised of the following operating units—television, film, digital, streaming, publishing, gaming platforms, live productions, documentaries, channels, licensing/merchandising and music.

“Morgan Creek’s globally recognized brand and premium titles are an ideal fit for the extraordinary creative revolution taking place in the television and digital worlds today,” David Robinson, the company’s president, said. “Given the quality of our library, we are in a unique position among independent content-driven companies to take advantage of the many opportunities this new world presents, thanks to the foresight shown by [founder] James Robinson over the past 30 years.”
