Lionsgate Secures Deal with Producers Zwick & Herskovitz

SANTA MONICA/VANCOUVER: Lionsgate has inked a multiyear, first-look deal with producers, writers and directors Edward Zwick and Marshall Herskovitz.

The agreement will see Lionsgate work with Zwick and Herskovitz to create and produce scripted programming. Zwick and Herskovitz began their collaboration when they worked together on the Emmy Award-winning TV movie Special Bulletin, which led them to form the Bedford Falls Company. They have created series such as Thirtysomething, My So-Called Life, Relativity and Once and Again, and their feature-film producing credits include Legends of the Fall, The Last Samurai, Blood Diamond, I Am Sam and Traffic.

“Ed Zwick and Marshall Herskovitz are inspired filmmakers whose groundbreaking work revolutionized television drama,” said Kevin Beggs, the chairman of Lionsgate Television Group. “They are brilliant storytellers with a track record of creating compelling and memorable scripted shows, and we’re excited about exploring new creative opportunities together as we continue to expand our Lionsgate TV brand across multiple platforms.”

Herskovitz and Zwick commented: “There's a revolution in television right now, and Lionsgate is helping to lead the way. Its emphasis on innovation and artistic vision makes it the perfect home for the kind of personal and passionate filmmaking we've always pursued. We're thrilled to be here."
