Global Road in First-Look Deal with Offspring Entertainment

Global Road Entertainment, previously known as IM Global, has entered into a first-look agreement with Adam Shankman and Jennifer Gibgot’s Offspring Entertainment.

The first two television projects to be developed under the deal are Wolfgang (formerly titled Coda)—a series about Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart—and an untitled comedy project with actor/producers Carlos and Alexa PenaVega.

Offspring’s Shankman and Gibgot have produced such hit movies as Hairspray, The Last Song and Bedtime Stories. The company is currently developing an untitled comedy script with Chuck Lorre, and Undercover with Mandeville Entertainment. Its show Step Up: High Water will debut soon on YouTube Red.

Mark Stern, Global Road’s president of scripted television, remarked: “We’ve wanted to work with Adam and Jennifer for a while. Their taste and breadth of development is a perfect fit for us, and using our entrepreneurial approach to television, we’re hoping to produce some great things together. It’s a partnership that’s already bearing fruit with the comedy experience they’re bringing to our PenaVega project and the international expertise we’re bringing to their Wolfgang project.”
