Global Road Entertainment’s unscripted and alternative division is collaborating with The Miss America Organization (MAO) and Tall Pony to produce The 2019 Miss America Competition.

The newly revised program will broadcast live from Atlantic City on Sunday, September 9, at 9 p.m. on ABC. Phil Gurin, Global Road’s president of unscripted and alternative television, has signed on as executive producer. He will assist with the creative development and execution of the show, which is retiring the swimsuit competition and placing more value on the intelligence of contestants.

“It is such an honor to be part of the team launching Miss America 2.0 this September,” stated Gurin. “As we reimagine this storied franchise, it’s exciting to offer a new and empowering platform for these strong, female leaders to shine.”

Regina Hopper, MAO’s president and CEO, added: “As The Miss America Organization moves into executing the Miss America 2.0 mission of preparing great women for the world and preparing the world for great women, we are fortunate to have individuals and companies of such experience, talent and vision working together to create an amazing show!”
