LOS ANGELES: FX Networks has acquired the exclusive U.S. commercial TV premiere rights for Minions, which earned $115 million in domestic box-office revenue during its premiere weekend.

Minions earned the second biggest opening weekend ever for an animated feature. FX Networks acquired the movie for its suite of networks, including FX, FXX, FXM and the VOD platform FXNOW. Ted 2 and Terminator Genisys are two more box-office hits that FX Networks, a business unit of 21st Century Fox, has acquired.

FX Networks also recently secured the exclusive U.S. commercial television premiere rights for Jurassic World, Furious 7 and Pitch Perfect 2, as well as other box-office hits. In 2014, FX Networks licensed 67 percent of all of the year’s features that grossed over $100 million at the box office.
