Fox Broadcasting Company Bolsters Programming Team

LOS ANGELES: In an effort to help expand its programming initiatives, Fox Broadcasting Company (FOX) has announced two promotions and a hire for its programming department, which has added a new division.

James Oh, formerly the VP of current programming, has been elevated to the post of senior VP of current programming. In his new role, he will manage the production and creative coverage of all of the company’s new and returning scripted series, such as Family Guy, The Following and Murder Police, among others. Oh will work under COO Joe Earley, and will supervise the current programming team on a day-to-day basis.

Shana C. Waterman has been appointed senior VP of event series and multiplatform programming, a newly-created division within the company that will oversee the limited-run and digital programming endeavors. She will be charged with commissioning and developing long-form event series for FOX, as well as managing multiplatform programming and other digital-to-broadcast efforts. Waterman, who previously served as FOX’s senior VP of current programming, will report to Kevin Reilly, FOX’s chairman of entertainment.

The network has hired Kiliaen Van Rensselaer as its senior VP of multiplatform programming. In this position, he will be responsible for FOX’s multiplatform programming and will collaborate with both Earley and Waterman to manage and grow the business. Prior to his appointment, Rensselaer was the senior VP of marketing and partnerships for digital media at News Corporation.

"These appointments are an investment in some of our top people to strengthen our core programming business and take strategic steps forward with alternative platforms to incubate talent and ideas," said Reilly. "With James—our ‘go-to’ current exec for many years—heading up our current team, Shana—a creative self-starter who has driven some of FOX’s most exciting initiatives—now heading up our event series and multiplatform efforts and Kiliaen—a key player from News Corp. digital who has a deep background in digital strategy—now driving our new platforms business, we have the leaders and structure in place to run the most forward-thinking programming team in the industry."
