Fargo, True Detective Lead Golden Globe TV Nominations

HOLLYWOOD: The 2015 Golden Globe nominees have been announced, with Fargo scoring the most nods in the TV segment, followed by True Detective.

Fargo and True Detective will face off in the TV movie/miniseries category (True Detective was entered as a drama series at the Emmys). The other nominees in that category are The Normal Heart, Olive Kitteridge and The Missing. The performance nominees for TV movie/miniseries see nominations for actors Matthew McConaughey (True Detective), Woody Harrelson (True Detective), Billy Bob Thornton (Fargo), Martin Freeman (Fargo) and Mark Ruffalo (The Normal Heart). The best actress nominees in this arena are Jessica Lange (American Horror Story: Freak Show), Frances McDormand (Olive Kitteridge), Maggie Gyllenhaal (The Honorable Woman), Allison Tolman (Fargo) and Frances O’Connor (The Missing).

The nominees for best drama series are Downton Abbey, The Good Wife, House of Cards, The Affair and Game of Thrones. The nominated actors for TV drama are Kevin Spacey (House of Cards), Clive Owen (The Knick), Dominic West (The Affair), James Spader (The Blacklist) and Liev Schreiber (Ray Donovan). The best actress nominees for TV drama are Claire Danes (Homeland), Viola Davis (How to Get Away With Murder), Julianna Margulies (The Good Wife), Ruth Wilson (The Affair) and Robin Wright (House of Cards).

TV comedy nominees include first-timers Jane the Virgin, Transparent and Silicon Valley, which are up against Girls and Orange Is the New Black. The comedic actor nods for TV went to Don Cheadle (House of Lies), Ricky Gervais (Derek), Jeffrey Tambor (Transparent), Louis CK (Louis) and William H. Macy (Shameless). The best actress in a TV comedy nominees are Lena Dunham (Girls), Edie Falco (Nurse Jackie), Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Veep), Gina Rodriguez (Jane the Virgin) and Taylor Schilling (Orange Is the New Black).

Supporting actor nominees for TV are Matt Bomer (The Normal Heart), Alan Cumming (The Good Wife), Colin Hanks (Fargo), Bill Murray (Olive Kitteridge) and Jon Voight (Ray Donovan). Nominations for supporting actress in TV went to Uzo Aduba (Orange Is the New Black), Kathy Bates (American Horror Story), Joanne Froggatt (Downton Abbey), Allison Janney (Mom) and Michelle Monaghan (True Detective).

For motion picture, Birdman led the pack, with seven nominations, followed by Boyhood and The Imitation Game with five each. Gone Girl, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Selma and The Theory of Everything each scored four nods.
