eOne Launches Augmented Reality App

TORONTO/NEW YORK/SAN FRANCISCO: Entertainment One (eOne) and the augmented reality platform Aurasma have teamed up to launch the app eOne PLUS.

A joint initiative of eOne Television International and eOne Films US, the app is for North American audiences. It runs on the iPhone 3G S and above; the iPad 2 and above; and high-powered Android devices. The app enables smartphones and tablets to recognize real-world objects and overlay multimedia content, including video, 3D animation and virtual objects.

eOne Television International will be previewing the app to buyers for the first time at MIPCOM, showcasing trailers and exclusive content for the series Primeval: New World and Haven. eOne Films US will present eOne PLUS features on two new home-entertainment releases: Vampire Dog and Iron Sky.

“We’re excited to be one of the first entertainment companies to partner with Aurasma in North America,” said Michael E. Rosenberg, the president of eOne Films US. “Aurasma’s technology brings a unique, interactive experience to the consumer that crosses over to next-level mobile marketing.”

“We’re delighted to introduce eOne PLUS to our broadcast partners at MIPCOM next week,” added Prentiss Fraser, the senior VP of worldwide sales and acquisitions at eOne Television International. “We’re always looking to join forces with innovative forward thinking companies to offer more and more content on multiple screens and platforms.”
