Ellen, Dr. Oz in Daytime Emmy Wins

LOS ANGELES: The Price is Right, The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The Dr. Oz Show were among the winners of the 40th Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards presented this weekend, honoring lifestyle series, talk shows and soap operas.

The awards were presented by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) in Los Angeles yesterday. Malachy Wienges, chairman of NATAS, noted, "Daytime television is well and prospering as witnessed by this overwhelming turnout honoring the best that television can be."

Outstanding drama went to NBC’s long-running Days of Our Lives. Food Network picked up awards for both Best Thing I Ever Made and Trisha’s Southern Kitchen in the outstanding culinary program category. CBS’s The Price is Right was crowned outstanding game show. In talk shows, The Ellen DeGeneres Show won for entertainment program while The Dr. Oz Show won in the informative category.

Hosts honored were Ben Bailey for Cash Cab, Rick Lake and Lidia Bastianich. In the performance categories, winners included Heather Tom in The Bold and the Beautiful and Doug Davidson in The Young and the Restless.
