SILVER SPRING: As part of its Making Life Better public awareness campaign promoting health and wellness, Discovery Life Channel has launched The Lifesaver Project, which will recognize individuals who contribute to their community.

The Lifesaver Project will award a monetary prize each month to a "lifesaver" who has made a positive difference in their community. Examples may include organ donors, CPR experts and sponsors. "Lifesavers" can be nominated on the Discovery Life website. Winners will receive a $1,000 Visa gift card, with another $1,000 being donated to a charity of their choosing.

"In a world where we're constantly surrounded by the negative, The Lifesaver Project is Discovery Life Channel's way of shining a positive light on do-gooders among us whose altruistic acts of kindness often go unnoticed," said Jane Latman, the general manager of Discovery Life Channel.
