Development Deal for Mariah Carey & Hallmark Channel

STUDIO CITY: Hallmark Channel has entered into a three-picture development deal with superstar Mariah Carey following the success of her 2015 holiday movie for the network.

The deal sees Carey set to develop, co-star in, executive produce and direct three original Hallmark Channel movies over the next two years. Carey will also compose and produce an original song for each film. The first movie will debut as part of the network’s 2017 Countdown to Valentine’s programming event.

Carey starred in and made her directorial debut with Hallmark Channel’s original movie A Christmas Melody in December 2015 as part of its Countdown to Christmas programming event. Carey also hosted the most-watched holiday special in Hallmark Channel’s history, Mariah Carey’s Merriest Christmas, a musical event featuring performances by Carey, Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds and Kelsey Grammer.
