NEW YORK: The Comedy Central veteran Gary Mann has been elevated to the role of senior VP of original programming and development at the all-comedy network.

Mann, who is based in Santa Monica, reports to Jim Sharp, the senior VP of original programming and development on the West Coast. Mann has been with Comedy Central since 2003, during which time he has developed a number of shows, including Tosh.0 and The Sarah Silverman Program. Mann also oversees The Comedy Central Stage, where the network develops live shows that can be used for on-air series.

“I have done almost everything in my power to undermine Gary, but he has a sharply honed eye for talent and an uncanny ability to develop shows that are important to us,” said Kent Alterman, the head of original programming and production at the network.
