Comcast Unveils New Streaming Service

PHILADELPHIA: Comcast is launching a new subscription video service, Xfinity Streampix, which will feature content from Disney-ABC Television Group, NBCUniversal, Sony Pictures, Warner Bros. Digital Distribution and others.

The new service will enable Xfinity video customers to stream movies and TV shows wherever they are, on multiple screens and devices. Xfinity Streampix complements the 75,000 TV shows and movies currently available on Xfinity On Demand, XfinityTV.com and through the Xfinity TV app. Through a slew of new licensing deals, Comcast secured past full seasons of hit shows such as 30 Rock, Grey’s Anatomy, Heroes, Lost, Married…with Children, The Office and more. Movies include Analyze That, Brokeback Mountain, Ocean’s Eleven, Stuart Little, When Harry Met Sally and The Big Lebowski. Kids’ programming was also part of the pacts, with titles such as The Suite Life of Zack & Cody and Wizards of Waverly Place.

“Xfinity TV is a one-stop source for the most video entertainment on any screen and it just keeps getting better,” said Marcien Jenckes, the senior VP and general manager of video services at Comcast. “Our goal is to consistently deliver greater value to our customers and to bring the best anytime, anywhere entertainment on multiple platforms. Streampix is another step moving TV Everywhere forward by giving customers access to an even greater library of popular choices to watch.”
