BEVERLY HILLS: Larry Tanz has been promoted to CEO of Vuguru, upped from the role of president.

As CEO, Tanz will continue to oversee development, production, distribution, marketing and strategic partnerships. Prior to joining Vuguru in 2009, Tanz served as the president and co-founder of Agility Studios, a boutique multiplatform studio where he helped build the three-season franchise The Legion of Extraordinary Dancers, which is in worldwide distribution by Paramount. He also served as CEO and president of LivePlanet, a multiplatform production company co-founded by actors Matt Damon and Ben Affleck.

“Larry’s exceptional leadership, ability to attract high profile talent, identify outstanding material and produce content that consumers want is why we chose to promote him to the position of CEO,” said Michael Eisner, the founder of Vuguru. “Under his direction, the company has expanded its production slate, created valuable partnerships and increased profitability. Personally, I enjoy working with Larry and expect great things from him and his team in the years ahead.”

"Since acquiring the Canadian rights to Vuguru content in 2009, we have enjoyed an outstanding relationship with Larry, who has demonstrated innovation, leadership and passion for delivering unique content on multiple platforms," said Melinda Rogers, the senior VP of strategy and development at Rogers Communications. "Vuguru is an international powerhouse that has allowed us to further expand our offerings of original premium content to our Canadian customers across our suite of assets on web, mobile and cable VOD."
