CBSN to Feature Live Coverage of U.S. Debates via Instagram

BURBANK: CBSN, CBS News’ digital streaming news service, and Instagram have partnered to feature curated Instagram Stories in CBSN’s live streaming coverage for the upcoming U.S. presidential and vice presidential debates.

The partnership makes CBSN the first network to feature Instagram Stories in live coverage. A collection of Instagram Stories created by CBSN anchors and CBS News correspondents and contributors will be integrated into CBSN’s anchored coverage before and after each debate, along with stories from political experts and voters across the country. CBSN will also curate questions from voters to inform coverage of the debates. CBSN will use the real-time audience engagement platform Connect Live from Telescope to deliver Instagram Stories live on air.

“Throughout this campaign, CBSN has highlighted new voices on new screens to bring politics to life, making a partnership with Instagram, which focuses on stories, a natural fit,” said Christy Tanner, the senior VP and general manager of CBS News Digital.

“We’re looking forward to being the first network to use Instagram Stories to tell the debate story by engaging our audience in our coverage,” said Nancy Lane, the senior executive producer for CBS News Digital.
