ATLANTA: Bounce TV has launched Brown Sugar, a new streaming service delivering a library of iconic African-American movies like Foxy Brown and Shaft for a monthly fee of $3.99.

Brown Sugar features films unedited and commercial free, curated under sections like “War in Harlem,” “Foxy Mamas,” “Righteous Revenue” and “Jive Ass Turkeys.”

“Brown Sugar is just like Netflix, only blacker,” said Pam Grier, star of Foxy Brown, Coffy, Black Mama/White Mama, Original Gangstas, Drum and more, and an official brand ambassador for Brown Sugar. “These movies are entertaining and fun, but they were also empowering to the black community as they depicted African Americans as strong leading characters and heroes for the first time.”

Rapper Rick Ross, also an ambassador for the service, stated, “You can see the influence of these movies in every aspect of rap and hip-hop; in the music, the lyrics, the fashion and overall style—the Blaxploitation genre is where it all began.”
