NEW YORK: Among those taking part in the new original documentary The Real History of Science Fiction, a BBC America and BBC Two co-production, are Steven Moffat (Doctor Who), Ronald D Moore (Battlestar Galactica), Chris Carter (The X-Files) and William Shatner (Star Trek).

The doc premieres on BBC America on April 19 at 10 p.m. The four-parter explores recurring themes in science fiction, including robots, space, invasion and time. A host of filmmakers, writers, actors and graphic artists will reflect on their experiences and on how their obsession and imagination has taken them into the unknown. Mark Gatiss, Doctor Who writer, actor and co-creator of the BBC’s Sherlock, serves as narrator.
