Ajit Pai Appointed FCC Chairman

WASHINGTON, D.C.: U.S. President Donald Trump has designated Ajit Pai as the 34th chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

Pai is the senior Republican on the Federal Communications Commission. He has been a commissioner at the FCC since 2012, when he was appointed by then-President Barack Obama and confirmed by the Senate. He replaces outgoing Chairman Tom Wheeler.

“I look forward to working with the new administration, my colleagues at the Commission, members of Congress and the American public to bring the benefits of the digital age to all Americans,” Pai said.

Pai has long been critical of net neutrality and has said that he intends to “revisit…the Title II Net Neutrality proceeding…as soon as possible.”
