Big Little Lies, The Handmaid’s Tale Top TV Wins at Golden Globes

At last night’s 75th annual Golden Globe Awards, The Handmaid’s Tale took home the win for best TV drama, with star Elisabeth Moss being recognized as best actress in the category.

Best actor in a television drama series went to Sterling K. Brown for This Is Us. It was a big night for Big Little Lies as well, scoring the award for best limited series/motion picture made for television and landing three performance nods: Nicole Kidman for best actress in the category and wins for Alexander Skarsgård and Laura Dern in supporting roles. Ewan McGregor won best actor in the category for Fargo.

For TV comedy, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel was the winner, and its star, Rachel Brosnahan, was recognized in the performance arena. Best actor in TV series musical or comedy went to Aziz Ansari for Master of None.

On the motion picture side, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri scored the Golden Globe for Best motion picture drama, and Lady Bird won for comedy or musical. Best performance by an actor in a motion picture drama went to Gary Oldman for Darkest Hour, while Frances McDormand won for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri for best actress in a motion picture drama. James Franco took home the award in the comedy or musical genre for The Disaster Artist, and Saoirse Ronan won for Lady Bird for comedy or musical. Supporting nods went to Sam Rockwell for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri and Alison Janney for I, Tonya. Guillermo del Toro won for best director for a motion picture for The Shape of Water. Martin McDonagh was awarded best screenplay for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. Coco won for best animated film, and In the Fade was the winner for best foreign language film.
