Sharknado 5 Gets the Green Light at Syfy

NEW YORK: Tara Reid and Ian Ziering are reprising their roles in Sharknado 5 (working title), which has begun principal photography in Bulgaria.

Syfy and The Asylum have given the green light to the worldwide production. The latest movie marks the fifth in the Shakrnado franchise, which kicked off in 2013. Sharknado 5 will also see the return of original cast member Cassie Scerbo as Nova, a bartender-turned-Sharknado fighter.

In Sharknado 5, the deadly weather phenomenon of shark-infested storms bombard cities around the world. Fin Shepard (Ziering) and his family seek to end the disaster before the world is completely obliterated. The movie will be filmed in more than five countries, including the U.K. and Australia. Anthony C. Ferrante, who directed the first four films, will also direct this installment. Sharknado 5 was written by Scotty Mullen.
