Showtime Networks Ups Gary Levine

NEW YORK: Showtime Networks has elevated Gary Levine to the role of president of programming.

In this new position, Levine will continue to be responsible for the development and creative oversight of all Showtime original scripted and unscripted series, documentaries and specials across all platforms. He will also oversee casting and program operations for the network. Levine joined Showtime in 2001 as the executive VP of original programming, and will continue to report to David Nevins, the president of Showtime Networks. In addition to his series work on shows such as Homeland and The Affair, Levine has overseen the network's original movies and documentaries, including Listen to Me Marlon.

"Gary has been an integral part of building Showtime Networks' stellar original programming brand," said Nevins. "He also happens to be one of the most respected creative executives in the business because he knows how to bring out the best in everyone who works with him. Gary has proven to be an invaluable creative partner to me since the day I arrived at Showtime. I am confident that in his expanded role he will lead our programming team to outstanding new heights."

Prior to joining Showtime Networks, Levine served as the president of Icebox, an internet entertainment company, where he produced 30 flash-animated web series. This year, Levine was honored by the Los Angeles Leadership Academy for his dedication to their inner-city educational programs. He is a longtime board member of the Williamstown Theatre Festival and is also a member of the Harpur College Advocacy Council at his alma mater, Binghamton University.
