Comcast Unveils Digital Video Service Watchable

NEW YORK: Comcast has lined up 30 content partners, among them NBCUniversal and Scripps Networks Interactive, for its new streaming service, Watchable, which has launched in a beta version.

The cross-platform video service curates a selection of content from popular online video networks. As of today, iOS, watchable.com and X1 users can watch videos from about 30 digital partners, including AwesomenessTV, Buzzfeed, Discovery Digital Networks, Flama, Machinima, Maker Studios, Red Bull and Vice. All Watchable beta content is supported entirely through advertising. Users can browse a full list of shows, organized by categories like auto, entertainment, fashion and style, food and travel, funny, gaming, music, news, science and technology, and sports.

Sam Schwartz, the chief business development officer for Comcast Cable in TV, commented: "We think Watchable can be a unique place that curates and distributes the best content from some of the most recognized brands and producers on the web. Plus, many of our Watchable partners have not traditionally had distribution on the TV and we can give them a path to reach new audiences and further monetize their content on the biggest screen in the home.
