National Geographic Channel Promotes Key Execs

WASHINGTON, D.C.: National Geographic Channels has promoted some key executives, upping two sales execs and one member of its research team.

Kelly Jones, previously executive director for ad sales marketing, is now the VP of ad sales marketing. Jones will oversee all client partnerships on National Geographic Channel and Nat Geo WILD, including development of on-air, digital and cross-platform packages and guidelines, as well as managing all value-added inventory. Jones will continue to report to Richard Goldfarb, the senior VP of media sales, from New York.

Eric Kracht, an account executive for National Geographic Channel, has been promoted to VP of sales at National Geographic Channels and FX Networks. He’ll be responsible for Nat Geo channels such as Nat Geo WILD and FX networks including FX, FXX and FXM. Based in Detroit, the exec will report to Goldfarb for Nat Geo and senior VP of ad sales Michael Brochstein for FX.

“Kelly and Eric are experienced sales executives with proven track records and strong relationships across the media sales landscape,” said Goldfarb. “I have no doubt that they will continue to excel and innovate as we create new business and increase revenue as we head into Upfront season.”

Also, director of research Dan McDonald has been bumped up to executive director of programming and consumer research, based in Washington, D.C. He’ll report to Brad Dancer, the senior VP for program planning and research.

“Dan is an invaluable member of our programming planning and research team,” Dancer said. “His analytical expertise combined with his creativity in utilizing the power of key research insights are tremendous assets in driving network strategy and growth.”
