The CW Licenses Canadian Original Comedy

TORONTO/LOS ANGELES: Entertainment One (eOne) has secured a slot for the comedy series Seed, a Canadian original for City TV, on The CW in the U.S.

Production is starting in the fall. City has ordered 13 episodes, which will be produced by Force Four Entertainment. It is about a single, underachieving bachelor named Harry, who starts a relationship with three unique families who want him to lend his DNA to father a child for them.

“City has always believed in Seed, and the partnership with eOne and The CW is a true testament to the incredibly talented creators, crew, and performers who bring this series to life,” said Claire Freeland, the director of original programming at Rogers Media. “We’re excited to introduce the hilarious and original stories of this quirky family to American viewers.”

“Seed was one of the first projects I read when I joined eOne a year ago,” said Carrie Stein, the executive VP of global productions at eOne. “I read the first five scripts in one sitting and thought it was a funny, sophisticated, and high-concept comedy which was sure to attract a U.S. partner. We are thrilled to have The CW on board for this first-rate comedy!”
