Google Updates YouTube App

MOUNTAIN VIEW: Google has updated the YouTube app for Google TV, with additions such as a new feature called "Discover," which lets users browse channels by categories.

Product manager Jurek Foryciarz said in a blog post that the updates will make it "faster and easier to find great content, adding YouTube channel pages and giving you more control over your experience." The update is supposed to make the app work faster and have smoother navigation. The new feature Discovery is focused on the "channels" of content YouTube has created, and allows users to browse by genre categories: comedy, cooking, news, etc. The app also features new channel pages, allowing users to navigate through playlists and videos in favorite channels, and users can subscribe to channels from the YouTube app as well.

Other improvements include viewing of related videos and more videos from the same user. The new Info screen allows users to give a video a thumbs up, add it to one of your YouTube playlists, or leave a comment for the YouTube community.
