Katherine Pope to Lead Sony Pictures Television Studios

Katherine Pope, former head of original content at Charter Communications’ Spectrum Originals, has been tapped as president of Sony Pictures Television Studios, overseeing all U.S. scripted productions.

At Charter Communications, Pope successfully created and launched the Spectrum Originals platform, curating a slate of premium series such as the upcoming A Spy Among Friends, as well as Beacon 23Panhandle and George & Tammy. Pope also executive produced the Emmy -nominated Hulu limited series The Dropout. Prior to joining Charter, Pope launched the television division at Peter Chernin’s Twentieth Century Fox-based production company. Earlier in her career, Pope spent ten years at NBC/NBCUniversal Television Studios.

She will begin her new role at Sony on August 22, reporting to Ravi Ahuja, chairman of Global Television Studios and Sony Pictures Entertainment Corporate Development.
