Red Arrow Studios’ 44 Blue Productions is partnering with Jessica Biel and Michelle Purple’s Iron Ocean Productions (The Sinner) on a new animated show for adults called Going Doll.

Going Doll will follow a group of fame-seeking, self-obsessed characters in Los Angeles whose beliefs are inspired by a fictional self-help book titled Dollface: A Modern Woman’s Guide to Etiquette, Social Climbing, Celebrity and Monetizing the Marriage. The comedy series is based on the Angie Dolls that satirize the bourgeois lifestyle of the suburban upper-class in Australia.

“We fell in love with the Dolls’ irreverent humor from the moment Jessica Biel and Michelle Purple ‘introduced’ us,” said Stephanie Noonan Drachkovitch, 44 Blue’s president and co-founder. “We’re thrilled to partner with Iron Ocean to bring [Angie Dolls creators] Miranda Darling and Sophie Edelstein’s unique vision to life—we know the outrageous but lovable Dolls are going to make quite an impact when they hit stateside!”

“We are beyond excited to be partnering with 44 Blue Productions to create Going Doll, and to share Miranda Darling and Sophie Edelstein’s brilliant and humorous creative minds with audiences,” noted Biel. “This is different than anything we’ve done before and we can’t wait to bring these eccentric characters to life on-screen.”

“Newly married—and newly moved back to the hometown I had fled as a teenager—I found myself surrounded by a herd of socially aspirational, self-obsessed and, frankly, terrifying women,” added Darling. “Their conversations, their lives, their values were beyond parody. My ‘cartoons’ and dolls became a covert way to perform my terror and distaste for them; a way to resist their influence (reverse voodoo!). Now that these creatures are set to become TV stars, I’m almost frightened at what I may have unleashed…”
