WaterBear Premieres Natura &Co’s Tree of Plenty

WaterBear Network has launched Tree of Plenty, an original short film created for the beauty group Natura &Co.

Tree of Plenty tells the story of a community that is changing the narrative, showing that profitable economic activity and conservation can coexist in the rainforest. The documentary follows the launch of a dedicated Natura &Co channel on the WaterBear platform, showcasing content around the brand’s key objectives: addressing the climate crisis and protecting the Amazon, defending human rights and embracing circularity and regeneration by 2030.

Natura &Co is home to Avon, Natura, The Body Shop and Aesop. Tree of Plenty raises awareness of its Commitment to Life sustainability vision, which aims to provide solutions for the main socio-environmental problems facing the world. The film spreads the message that the Amazon should be interacted with respectfully and its natural capital leveraged without being abused, as it plays a crucial role in maintaining the global carbon balance and mitigating climate change. Viewers hear the story of how a single tree was brought back from the brink of extinction and turned into a core economic provider for the community.

Andrea Alvares, chief brand, sustainability and innovation officer at Natura, said: “As a business with its roots in Brazil, we understand how important the health of the Amazon is to the future of our planet. That’s why for 20 years Natura has worked to protect the region, establishing sustainable trading relationships that now number 34 communities and more than 7,300 families.”

“We want to share the story of the ucuuba seed and Movimento de Mulheres because we believe that the future of the Amazon lies in the development of an economic model based on a bioeconomy,” Alvares added. “By bringing this story to WaterBear, we hope to engage its audiences to learn more and to take action to protect the world’s largest source of biodiversity, because we all depend on the Amazon, wherever we are in the world.”

WaterBear has also partnered with the global philanthropic organization Luminate to produce The Tale of the Heckler, a story-led, emotive short film focusing on the human impacts of disinformation. The original documentary will launch on the WaterBear platform on November 9.
