Lori Rothschild Ansaldi, a veteran executive producer, has partnered with Steve Michaels, Asylum Entertainment Group’s founder and CEO, to launch the production company Big City TV.

The new production company, a joint venture with Asylum’s flagship content collective The Content Group, will see Rothschild working closely with Michaels as well as The Content Group President Jodi Flynn. Big City TV has already set up projects with TLC, HISTORY and Oxygen, and has partnered with celebrity talent, including Kim Kardashian West and racing legend Tony Kanaan.

Rothschild has vast experience in the unscripted space, with a focus on true crime and historical documentaries. She has credits on such series as The Coroner: I Speak for the Dead (ID), Deadly Wives (A&E), Murder Book (ID), Cash Cab (Discovery), Deadliest Catch (Discovery), Planet Earth (Discovery), DB Cooper: Case Closed (HISTORY) and Passport to Latin America with Samantha Brown (Travel). Previously, Rothschild launched Tent City Productions, and held roles at LMNO Productions and Discovery Networks.

Rothschild said: “I’ve known Steve for years, and have always admired both his creativity and innovative business approach to an ever-changing marketplace. Launching Big City with him and The Content Group really kickstarts us out of the gate, providing us access to not only an infrastructure but also a team of creative partners to more efficiently bring our slate to series.”

Michaels added: “Lori is a respected developer with a unique talent for producing across a wide range of genres. As we continue to build our collective, she is the perfect example of the kind of partner whose vision we want to both invest in and champion to the fullest extent.”
