LONDON: U.S. network REELZ has commissioned 20 new episodes of Autopsy: The Last Hours Of… from ITV Studios’s Potato.

The new hour-long episodes will once again examine the final moments of some of America’s most influential and well-known cultural icons, among them Chris Farley, Richard Pryor, Patrick Swayze, Barry White, Janis Joplin and Bernie Mac.

Autopsy: The Last Hours Of…uses official pathologist reports to establish the facts behind these events with reconstructions based on crucial medical evidence. Interviews with family and friends shed further light on the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

ITV Studios Global Entertainment distributes the series internationally.

Michael Kelpie, the managing director of Potato, said: “When household names unexpectedly die, their passing is headline news across the globe. But the headlines quite often fail to tell the full story. In Autopsy: The Last Hours Of… we go beyond the attention-grabbing stories to discover the often-tragic truth behind the untimely deaths of some of our most cherished stars. We are delighted to be working with REELZ again. They have been a fantastic partner for us and we are delighted that the first series has been such a success in the U.S.”

Autopsy: The Last Hours Of… is at the core of our viewers’ interest in seeing the real stories about celebrities and we’re thrilled to continue working with Potato for new episodes,” added Steve Cheskin, the senior VP of REELZ programming.
