Mark Brownlow has been appointed creative director of natural history for Plimsoll Productions, an ITV Studios company.

A seasoned producer and director, Brownlow joined the company in early 2023 as an executive producer within Plimsoll’s natural history division. He took the reins with Disney+/National Geographic’s upcoming seven-part premium wildlife series Incredible Animal Journeys.

Prior to Plimsoll, Brownlow spent almost three decades with BBC. His credits include Blue Planet II, Frozen Planet II, Eden: Untamed Planet, Earth’s Tropical Islands and more. The executive has also won BAFTA and Emmy Awards.

In this elevated role, Brownlow will continue to report directly to Martha Holmes, Plimsoll’s chief creative officer of natural history and science. Tom Hugh-Jones, Plimsoll’s current creative director of natural history, plans to depart at the year’s end.

“Since joining the company less than a year ago, Mark has become an invaluable part of our team, inspiring us to stretch our limits even further through his unparalleled expertise and access in the natural history space,” said Holmes. “He’s an esteemed visionary, particularly in the art of wildlife filmmaking, and we are fortunate to be in the business of storytelling with him.”
