This August, ABC is due to debut Castaways, a new survival reality series that tests the human need for companionship under extreme circumstances.

Castaways will look on as 12 individuals must survive on various Indonesian islets with minimal resources and abandoned structures. The show premieres on August 7 at 10 p.m. on ABC, streaming and on-demand. It is produced by Nomad Entertainment, with Emmy nominee Grant Kahler serving as showrunner.

ABC is also gearing up to launch the fifth installment of Bachelor in Paradise this summer. The new season will debut in the run-up to Castaways, on August 7 at 8 p.m., and will also be available for streaming and on-demand. Hosted by Chris Harrison, the series is produced by Next Entertainment in association with Warner Horizon Unscripted & Alternative Television.
