Entertainment One (eOne) has acquired the international distribution rights, excluding Australia and Scandinavia, for the three-part series The Black Hand, with Golden Globe and Emmy winner Anthony LaPaglia (Without a Trace).

LaPaglia will explore the Australian Italian community’s struggle against hard times, extreme politics, looming war and the mafia. He will unravel an era of extortion, arson, kidnapping and murder by The Black Hand, Italian criminals targeting their migrant countrymen in northern Australia.

The Black Hand is produced by Wildbear Entertainment for ABC in Australia. It is executive produced by Alan Erson, LaPaglia, Michael Tear and produced by Adam Grossetti and Kate Pappas. Kriv Stenders serves as director, as well as writer, along with Grossetti and Anya Beyersdorf.

The Black Hand is truly the definition of premium factual,” said Kate Cundall, VP of acquisitions at eOne. “We’re very excited about the opportunity to take to market a hugely popular genre like true crime with some amazing auspicious.”
