Kew Media Distribution (KMD) has inked a raft of international sales for Margaret Atwood: A Word After A Word After A Word is Power, a documentary film about the 2019 joint Booker Prize-winning author.

The documentary follows Atwood over the course of a 12-month period, exploring her major works and delving into her youth in the Canadian wilderness and days as a poet at Harvard. Co-directed and co-produced by Nancy Lang and Peter Raymont, Margaret Atwood: A Word After A Word After A Word is Power is slated to bow on CBC’s documentary Channel on November 19. KMD has sold the documentary, a White Pine Pictures production in association with the CBC, to multiple broadcasters worldwide, including Sky Arts in the U.K. and Ireland, SBS in Australia, Sky in New Zealand, NDR-Arte in Austria, France, Germany, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg and Switzerland, HBO in Central and Eastern Europe, YLE in Finland, SVT in Sweden, ERR Estonia, NTR Netherlands and Hulu in the U.S.

Margaret Atwood: A Word After A Word After A Word is Power was produced with the participation of the Canada Media Fund, Rogers Documentary Fund, Ontario Creates and developed with the participation of Telefilm Canada.

Jonathan Ford, executive VP of sales at Kew Media Distribution, said: “If we needed proof of the rise in demand for fascinating, topical documentaries, then this is it. Margaret Atwood’s literary superstardom has translated into worldwide interest in this film and we can only see this increasing following the recent Booker Prize co-win for her latest novel, The Testaments. Needless to say, we are very proud to include it in KMD’s feature documentary slate.”
