International Emmy Nominees Named for News & Current Affairs

The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has unveiled the eight nominees for the 2024 news and current affairs categories, with a first news nomination for Bulgaria’s Nova Broadcasting Group and a first current affairs nomination for BBC India Eye (World Service).

The nominees span six countries: Brazil, Bulgaria, India, Israel, Qatar and the U.K. Nominated programs include stories on the conflict in Israel and Gaza; a pay scheme in Rio de Janeiro’s city council; the Lokorsko tragedy, during which 18 migrants suffocated on a fatal journey; an undercover report about a secret hospital during the civil war in Myanmar; and more.

In the news category, the nominees are Al Jazeera English’s War on Gaza (Qatar), Nova Broadcasting Group’s Tragediata v lokorsko (Bulgaria), GloboNews/Globo’s Globonews and RJ2: Secret Payrolls (Brazil) and Channel 4 News’s Channel 4 News: Israel-Hamas at War (U.K.).

In current affairs, UVDA Ltd./Keshet Media Group’s “UVDA” with Ilana Dayan: Brother & sister in captivity (Israel), BBC India Eye (World Service)’s The Trap: India’s Deadliest Scam (India), Sky News’s The Last Hospital: 30 Days in Myanmar (U.K.) and GloboNews/Globo’s GloboNews Documentário: Evel, Hazin: Days of Mourning (Brazil) are nominated.
